Somewhere in my study, there’s a cassette tape, recorded on a cheap, little “pop up” cassette recorder. It “features” a bunch of songs I had written more than 40 years ago now. I haven’t heard that tape in years (hell, I haven’t even seen it in years!) but I remember that there were train whistles and sounds from neighbors in the background. 😊 I had recorded the songs sitting outside, all a cappella, of course, and this one is on there somewhere too.
Dialtone
I haven’t been the same since I met you
I seem to walk around in a daze
My friends don’t know what to think or do
they don’t know what to say
I couldn’t sleep, thinking ‘bout you
so I picked up my telephone
and listened a while
to that old dialtone
I bought you a nice coat for Christmas
and gave you a new Easter dress
now the only time I’m satisfied
is feeling your sweet caress, yes
I couldn’t sleep, thinking ‘bout you
so I picked up my telephone
and listened a while
to that old dialtone
I listened a while to that old dialtone.
